The project concluded with a series of commercial flight activities that demonstrated how interoperable digital airspace infrastructure can support real-world operations in a complex operating environment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Building Infrastructure That Lasts<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project established digital infrastructure that can continue supporting commercial drone operations across the region while providing a foundation for future expansion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ANRA deployed its FAA-approved UAS Traffic Management (UTM) platform together with its Single Integrated Operational Picture (SIOP), providing a common operating picture for participating organizations while coordinating commercial flight activities in shared airspace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The implementation supported:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Integrated operational awareness using UTM, RF detection, and optical sensing\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commercial infrastructure inspections\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Utility asset inspections\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Operations near critical infrastructure\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Airspace coordination near the U.S.-Canada border\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Together, these capabilities demonstrated how multiple organizations can safely operate within a shared digital environment using interoperable technology.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Integrating Commercial Operations and Airspace Security<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most significant outcomes of the project was demonstrating how commercial airspace management and airspace security can operate within a single digital ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ANRA&#8217;s SIOP combined FAA-approved UTM services with RF and optical sensing technologies to create a Common Operating Picture that displayed both cooperative and non-cooperative aircraft in real time. Approved drone operations were correlated with surveillance data, enabling operators to distinguish authorized commercial activity from unknown aircraft in a single interface.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This approach provides infrastructure operators, public safety agencies, airports, and security organizations with a much higher level of situational awareness. Rather than viewing multiple independent systems, decision makers have access to a single operational picture that integrates known flight activity with sensor detections, improving both operational efficiency and security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As commercial drone traffic continues to grow, this type of integrated digital infrastructure will become increasingly important for managing shared airspace while protecting critical assets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Built on Open, Interoperable Architecture<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ANRA&#8217;s approach is based on interoperability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project brought together technologies from multiple organizations into a unified operational environment rather than relying on isolated, proprietary systems. UTM services, flight operations, RF detection, optical sensing, and other operational data were integrated into a common platform that allows organizations to share information while continuing to use the technologies that best meet their mission requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This open architecture reduces vendor lock-in, simplifies future integration, and provides a scalable foundation for expanding digital airspace services across the region.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Looking Ahead<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The work completed in Michigan provides a proven model for deploying digital airspace infrastructure that integrates commercial drone operations, airspace awareness, and security into a single Common Operating Picture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While implemented in Michigan&#8217;s Eastern Upper Peninsula, the same interoperable capability can be deployed by airports, utilities, public safety agencies, critical infrastructure operators, and aviation authorities anywhere.
