{"id":9404,"date":"2019-05-24T22:42:08","date_gmt":"2019-05-24T22:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.anratechnologies.com\/home\/?p=5930"},"modified":"2023-10-02T09:24:12","modified_gmt":"2023-10-02T09:24:12","slug":"us-state-dots-and-drones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anratechnologies.com\/home\/2019\/05\/24\/us-state-dots-and-drones\/","title":{"rendered":"States Ramp Up Interest in Drones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PARK CITY, Utah<\/strong> &#8212; Transportation executives from all over the country met in Park City this week for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.org\/\">American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials<\/a> conference.<\/p>\n<p>The conference included UAS\/Drone User Work Group and State DOT\/Industry roundtable and well as some live demonstrations. This session featured various industry partners including ANRA Technologies who highlighted opportunities for state DOTs including urban air mobility, the latest in UAS\/drone technology, and data.<\/p>\n<p>ANRA CEO, Amit Ganjoo spoke about the workflow orchestration using platform such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anratechnologies.com\/reference\/drone-oss-platform\/\">DroneOSS\u2122<\/a> as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anratechnologies.com\/reference\/droneuss-utm-platform\/\">UAS Traffic Management<\/a> including evolution to highways in the sky for Urban Air Mobility.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of transportation departments around the country are now using drones to save lives, time and money, and this conference was a great step to help improve and expand the use of drones.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hoverbikes were one of the coolest attractions at the event. \u201cThey\u2019re already built, they\u2019re already test flying. It\u2019s not a concept, it\u2019s not a drawing on a computer, they\u2019re operating,\u201d said Jared Esselman, the Director of Aeronautics for the state of Utah.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5937\" src=\"https:\/\/www.anratechnologies.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/aashto_sc1-1024x575.png\" alt=\"aashto_sc1\" width=\"1024\" height=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Multiple real world Drone applications are relevant to DOTs and many are are already using drones for ensuring safety of the workforce\u00a0 \u201cOne of those dangerous, dirty adult jobs is bridge inspections \u2014 getting underneath the bridge,&#8221; Esselman said. &#8220;Instead of having to have a crane hoist a person under a bridge, we can actually fly that with a drone.
