UK UAV Rules Summary

1Overview

As per the current regulations, operators cannot fly higher than 400ft and no further than 500m always in visual line of sight. No closer than 50m to buildings or people or not within 150m of congested spaces and crowds. Operators must seek permission from the land owner where they are operating from. It is a good practice to have 3rd party liability insurance and none of this can be done for commercial gain without Permission for Aerial Work PfAW from the CAA.

Certification to achieve PfAW costs approximately £2k.
