Continuing with our Employee Spotlight program, this month we will talk about Rashul Rajbhandari ANRA’s Frontend Developer at the DC office. Read about his role and what makes him tick
Do you have an office nickname? What is it?
A: People just call me Rashul. However, people sometimes mess up the enunciation. It’s Ra-ashul. Think of it as if there are two ‘A’s.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day?
A: I love that I am working in a new technology space. Our team has a unique opportunity to shape the future of aviation. I am motivated everyday because I know that every project we work on will have a direct impact into shaping the future of the emerging drone industry. On top of this I’m working with experienced and talented people. Working with the team is always fun and exciting.
What’s something most colleagues don’t know about you?
A: I was born and raised in Nepal. I lived in Kathmandu, Nepal for about 19 years. I came to the United States for my undergrad in 2015 in New Jersey and moved to Virginia in 2019.
What is your proudest moment at ANRA ?
A: My proudest moment at ANRA so far is migrating our entire front-end ecosystem from Aurelia.js into Vue.js. Over the course of this migration, we wanted to address some issues we were having, and add a lot of cool features. Overall, it was super exciting to build such a complex and large scale application from scratch.
If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and why?
A: I would love to meet Satoshi Nakamoto. It’s a pseudonymous name of a person or organization who authored the bitcoin white paper. I’m a big fan of emerging technologies such as blockchain. So, I would love to meet a pioneer who chose to remain anonymous and developed the bitcoin whitepaper.
What has been your favorite project so far at ANRA ?
A: My favorite project is the SmartSkies Platform. There were a lot of moving pieces in this project. What I like about this project is the complexity and the fact that there are a lot of components working cohesively. There were times where we were banging our tables when things were breaking, but in the end I think we were able to deliver a solid product.
What have you gained from working at ANRA?
A: At ANRA, I am working with some of the most talented and experienced people across 3 continents. This has been an incredible experience not just in terms of professional development but also in terms of developing soft skills. Everyday I’m working with new technology and learning more about the aviation industry.
