ANRA awarded FAA CAAT Task Order 1: Advancing Cooperative Separation for AAM

Advanced Air Mobility will only scale if aircraft can remain safely separated in a highly automated, digitally managed airspace. ANRA Technologies is supporting Task Order 1 under the FAA’s Center for Advanced Aviation Technologies (CAAT), a federal initiative led by Texas A&M University Corpus Christi through the Autonomy Research Institute.

Task Order 1 focuses on the evaluation of a new, interoperable Cooperative Separation service that ensures safe distances not only between UAM aircraft, but also between UAM, UTM, and traditional Air Traffic Services. Earlier demonstration activities made clear that while corridor concepts and demand capacity balancing were advancing, a federated separation capability still needed to be defined and validated. This effort is designed to close that gap and help shape the next evolution of the UAM Concept of Operations.

As a Provider of Services for UAM, ANRA is integrating Cooperative Separation functionality into its mature UTM and digital airspace management platform and supporting simulation based evaluations at the CAAT Airspace Laboratory in Fort Worth, Texas. Working alongside FAA, academic, and industry partners, ANRA is helping demonstrate how multiple service providers can interoperate, exchange data, and enable delegated separation in a scalable and automated environment.

This project runs through early 2027 and reflects ANRA’s continued commitment to advancing digital airspace infrastructure. By contributing operational experience and proven technology, ANRA is helping define how Cooperative Separation will function in a future National Airspace System that supports high tempo Advanced Air Mobility operations while maintaining safety and regulatory integrity.
